Question: Pickguard change on SSS Albert Lee

Bought a new pickguard, but whew, this looks complicated. Aside from the pickups, and vol and tone pots, … there is a round cylindrical object about 1/3 inch tall adhered to the underside of the pickguard. I assume this is part of the silent circuit … is it simply glued to the pickguard with two-sided tape? Safe to remove and just stick onto the underside of the new pickguard?

Any other issues I should be advised of?
