Legend Leland Sklar Joins UK Bass Guitar Show

Bass Legend Leland Sklar has been announced, joining the growing line-up of artists set to appear at the debut, of what is being described by organisers Gold Media, “as the biggest bass show in Europe”. Leland joins other bass greats Richard Bona, Chic’s very own rhythm section Jerry Barnes (bass) and (drummer) Ralph Rolle, along with rock legend Marco Mendoza, who will be appearing with his UK band, who was announced last month and will be sharing new material from his upcoming album out May 2020.

Lee Sklar has been a prominent figure among Hollywood session bassists dating back to the 1970s and ever since. Sklar has more than 2000 albums to his credit (and still counting), and is considered to be one of the “A” players in the highly selective L.A. rock music community where the competition for recording dates is fierce, and where only the strongest will survive. His very recognizable bass playing style has been heard on hits by Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Hall & Oates, Jackson Browne, Phil Collins, Clint Black, Reba McEntire, and George Strait, to name just a few. And never one to remain idle, Sklar entered the millennium with a vengeance, taking on new projects with Willie Nelson, Steven Curtis Chapman, Nils Lofgren, Lisa Loeb, and many more. Sklar’s reputation of a fine session player is not held exclusively to the record industry. Television and motion picture musical directors have called upon Sklar for his expertise countless times. He has played on TV shows such as Hill Street Blues, Knight Rider, Simon and Simon, and also on many motion pictures, including Forrest Gump, Ghost, Kindergarten Cop, and My Best Friend’s Wedding. The list is virtually endless.

“We are thrilled to announce Leland to The UK Bass Guitar Show debut in March, who is an absolute legend and total pro”, states organiser Neil Golding. “Our commitment to stimulate, grow and create a dedicated annual focal point on the MI calendar, along with recently launched Bass Guitar Review, continues to win support for our cause, with further announcements regarding the bass show to be made in the coming weeks”. “We are grateful to all those companies and artists, that like us, share a vision and a passion for bass, and have and continue to work with us to ensure, like sister show The UK Drum Show, is regarded the world over”.

Companies wishing to exhibit their respective bass brands at The UK Bass Guitar Show (dates 28th & 29th March 2020 – Manchester Central), should contact the organiser below.
