Yamaha Announce Limited Edition Attitude 30th Anniversary Billy Sheehan Bass
Yamaha today (02.10.20) introduced the Attitude® 30th bass—celebrating 30 years of instrumental collaboration with bassist Billy Sheehan, and paying homage to the heavily customized original bass that Sheehan affectionately refers to as “The Wife.” It was on that instrument that he first experimented with features such as scalloped fingerboard and dual outputs, which became defining elements of his signature Attitude series.
“Billy Sheehan is one of the most respected, most awarded, and most influential rock bassists of all time,” said Dave Miner, Product Marketing Manager, Yamaha Guitar Group. “The aesthetics of this anniversary edition are inspired by The Wife, as Billy’s custom modifications of that bass laid the foundation for the Attitude series. We are very proud to express our appreciation of that history with the Attitude 30th.”
The Attitude 30th bass was made in Japan and features a sunburst finish that is complemented by a multi-ply tortoise pickguard and nickel-plated hardware, a vintage-tinted maple neck with a high-register scalloped fingerboard, Yamaha-designed DiMarzio Woofer and DiMarzio Will Power split pickups, and dual outputs. A limited run of 30 basses marks this major anniversary. Each bass includes a numbered certificate of authenticity signed by Sheehan, as well as a signed second pickguard.
Attitude 30th celebrates three decades of Billy Sheehan’s signature series, and 36 years of his partnership with Yamaha. This outstanding instrument is a reverent tribute to one of the true innovators of the electric bass.
