Conn Selmer Europe Announces 2026 Scholarship Winner
Conn Selmer Europe is delighted to announce drummer Nico Busch as the recipient of the 2026 Conn Selmer Europe Scholarship. Launched in 2022, and now at its third scholar, the scholarship programme is a bi-annual award designed to provide financial support and professional development opportunities to outstanding and talented young musicians.
At just 17, Karlsruhe-born Nico has already established himself as a promising young jazz drummer. In 2026, he won first prize in the national Jugend musiziert competition and was accepted as a young student at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart (HMDK Stuttgart), where he studies with Fabian Arends and Eckhard Stromer on a scholarship.
Nico has also worked with saxophonist Jan Prax and is currently studying with acclaimed drummer Jost Nickel. His achievements build on scholarships to the International Jazz Course in Ettlingen in 2024 and 2025.
The Conn Selmer Europe Scholarship provides:
- €500 Bursary Credit towards a Conn Selmer product or lessons with a Conn Selmer Artist, subject to availability and approval.
- 10% Scholar’s Discount on personal instruments and accessories ordered directly through Conn Selmer Europe.
- Loan Instrument of Nico’s choice for the scholarship period.
- Artist Roster Opportunity, with the potential to become a full Conn Selmer artist following the scholarship year.
Conn Selmer Europe is committed to nurturing the next generation of musicians, and the scholarship forms part of our ongoing mission to support talented young artists as they develop their skills and build careers in music. We are thrilled to welcome Nico as our 2026 Scholar and look forward to following his continued progress and musical journey.
European Vice President Charles Bozon comments:
“We are proud and delighted to continue our scholarship programme and to support another outstanding young musician at such an important stage in their development.
Nico has already achieved an impressive amount at a very young age, from his success in Jugend musiziert to his studies at HMDK Stuttgart and his work with some of the leading musicians and educators in the jazz world. We are delighted to welcome him to the Conn Selmer Europe Scholarship programme and look forward to supporting his development over the coming year.”
Nico comments:
“I am incredibly grateful and honoured to be selected as the 2026 Conn Selmer Europe Scholar. This is a fantastic opportunity to continue developing as a musician and take another step towards my goal of becoming a professional drummer.”
