Tascam Introduces the MP-800U DAB
Tascam is excited to launch the MP-800U DAB, a multi-format media player designed for seamless audio playback in commercial environments such as restaurants, hotels, event spaces and similar PA and sound reinforcement environments. With support for SD cards, USB drives, Bluetooth (via optional adapter), USB D/A converter and a built-in DAB/FM tuner, the MP-800U DAB offers a modern, flexible alternative to outdated CD-based systems.
The unit plays popular audio formats (WAV, MP3, AAC) from front-panel SD and USB ports and features USB DAC (digital-to-analogue converter) functionality for direct playback from USB-C devices like laptops and smartphones. Bluetooth connectivity is enabled with the optional AK-BT2 adapter, allowing for wireless streaming from compatible devices.
Professional connections and versatile playback options
For professional installations, the MP-800U DAB includes balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs, plus dedicated RCA tuner outputs. Additional features such as Auto Cue, Auto Ready, Pitch Control, and Ethernet-based remote control (with optional IF-E100 card) provide enhanced playback flexibility and system integration.
Other conveniences include power-on play, incremental playback, fade in/out, direct track search, and a panel lock function. Users can control the unit via a free mobile app or the optional RC-20 remote control, which allows instant access to up to 20 tracks. Fader start/stop compatibility is provided via connectors on the rear panel, and a headphones output with independent level control allows for monitoring.
