Question about trades

I’ve bought and sold a lot of guitars. I traded once, but in person. I have one I’m thinking about doing a straight up trade for. It’s difficult to selling guitar right now and I know what I want and think there are a lot of them out there so I’m considering offering this one as a straight trade. Question is how you protect yourself. I’d probably do it here or on the gear page or something like that. But do you get the guy on the phone first and make sure he’s legit, and how do you handle…
