25th Anniversary bass pickup switches have poor contact

Hello all, this is a dream bass of mine, bought off this forum years back. I don’t play it all the time, but recently when picking it up, it can tend to have weak distorted sound, and it seems to be originating from the pickup on/off switches. They seem to not be making great contact and having to cycle them on/off several times to get full volume and signal. Is there a proper way to clean these switches for proper function? repeatedly pressing them doesn’t seem to be cutting it. And…
