NAMM 2019: Roland launches Go:Piano 88 digital piano & TM-1 Trigger Module
Roland is introducing the GO:PIANO 88, a new addition to the company’s line-up of GO-series instruments and devices. Offering 88 full-size keys and sound derived from Roland’s premium digital pianos in a portable cabinet, Roland claims: ‘the GO:PIANO 88 provides a solid foundation that’s ready to support years of musical growth and playing enjoyment. And with built-in Bluetooth and an integrated stereo sound system, GO:PIANO 88 works alongside a smartphone to offer a simple and compact learning solution that allows beginning pianists to connect wirelessly and stream audio from online piano lessons, karaoke, and tutorial videos’.
The manufacturer says the GO PIANO 88’s lightweight design is easy to carry and set up anywhere, while onboard speakers, battery operation, and Bluetooth eliminate the need to fuss with add-ons such as external amplifiers, AC power, and cables. GO:PIANO 88 also supports listening with headphones, allowing users to play at any time without disturbing others.
Also new is the TM-1 Trigger Module, the latest addition to the company’s line-up of hybrid drumming products. Professional drummers commonly use hybrid setups that add electronic elements to their acoustic drum kits but for players who are new to hybrid drumming, getting started can seem a little daunting. Roland says the new product is compact and very easy to operate, offering a simple solution for first-time users, allowing them to easily bring hybrid power to their acoustic drum kit with.
The TM-1 provides instant access to a drummer’s own pre-recorded sounds and features 15 ready-to-play kits with two instruments in each, while the onboard kits include various kick and snare combinations, and even synth loops.
Designed much like a floor-based guitar effect pedal, the TM-1 runs on batteries or AC power and fits alongside other elements of an acoustic kit. Two trigger inputs can accommodate two single-trigger devices or one dual-trigger device, while direct-access control knobs and two footswitches make operation a breeze. With the TM-1 Editor app for Mac/Windows computers and iOS/Android devices, users can access over 150 additional sounds, import original audio samples, assign sounds to each trigger pad, and quickly customise sounds in numerous ways. And with convenient editing from a smartphone, there’s no need to bring a laptop to the gig for last-minute tweaks.
The TM-1 is compatible with a variety of Roland trigger devices, including the BT-1 Bar Trigger Pad, RT-series acoustic drum triggers, V-Pads, and others.
