Transform your sound (literally) with Lightning Boy Audio’s new 2020 Instrument Transformer

Lightning Boy Audio has announced the 2020 Instrument Transformer, a small unit intended to fit on pedalboards and offer your sound the character of studio equipment transformers.
The unit itself resembles a mini pedal, but has no controls and no power requirement. Instead, it alters the impedance of your signal to saturate it slightly with even-order harmonic distortion. To increase the effect, you can either use multiple 2020s or saturate a single unit with a boost pedal.
Lightning Boy Audio says the device operates over an “extremely wide” signal bandwidth, and offers studio-grade audio transformer operation with a 1:1 ratio.
The 2020 requires no power supply to operate, introduces no noise, and exhibits extremely low insertion loss, all while providing an exceptionally wide bandwidth. The 2020 Instrument Transformer was designed and is manufactured by Lightning Boy Audio in the USA.
Lightning Boy Audio manufactures the units by hand, winding each transformer manually. Hear the difference yourself below:

The unit lists for $99. Find out more at lightningboyaudio.com. For more gear news, click here.
