Dave Grohl announces The Storyteller, a new memoir collection

Foo Fighters singer and guitarist Dave Grohl has announced a new book, a collection of memoirs entitled The Storyteller: Takes Of Life And Music.
Unsurprisingly, the book is a collection of stories from Grohl’s rather unique career, across which he’s played in some of the biggest bands on the planet. The work will span from Grohl’s childhood, to him leaving home at 18, to his days as a drummer for Nirvana to his adventures around the world fronting the Foo Fighters. Grohl said of the book and its naming: “There is a common thread that runs throughout everything that I do: storytelling. Whether in song, documentary film or on the page, I have always felt compelled to share moments from my life. This inclination is a huge part of what excites me creatively but also as a human being.”

He also pointed to the Instagram account (@davestruestories) he created at the beginning of the pandemic, as an alternative outlet to playing live shows. “[I] decided to focus all of my creative energy on writing some of my stories down, something I love doing but I’ve never really had the time for,” he said.

“I soon found that the reward I felt every time I posted a story was the same as the feeling I get when playing a song to an audience, so I kept on writing. The response from readers was as soul-filling as any applause in an arena. So, I took stock of all the experiences I’ve had in my life-incredible, difficult, funny and emotional-and decided it was time to finally put them into words.”
You can hear a trailer for the book below, and preorder it here. It will arrive on 5 October 2021.
