10 new electric and acoustic guitars: June 2019

Every month, we compile a few lists of guitars fresh out of the oven. Here’s one dedicated to the latest electric and acoustic guitars.
Yamaha FG Red Label Acoustic
The FSX5Yamaha has revived their line of FG Red Label acoustic guitars which first made an appearance back in the 60s. While the 2019 line retains vintage aesthetics, it also features modern designs in the pickup and tonewood departments. Pictured here is the FSX5, which sits on the premium end of the line. It’ll set you back a handsome $2,320.
Ernie Ball Music Man Majesty 2019

Calling all Petrucci fans: EBMM’s Majesty model for 2019 has been unveiled and it features some new pickups and finishes. In terms of the former, the new instrument has two humbuckers: Dreamcatcher (bridge) and Rainmaker (neck). The guitar’s refreshed aesthetic is thanks to a new high-gloss polyester finish, available in seven finishes including this gorgeous Tiger Eye one seen above.
Epiphone Jared James Nichols “Old Glory” Les Paul Custom

Dubbed “Old Glory” this vintage-leaning signature model is inspired by a 1955 Les Paul Custom. Highlights of the axe include a single Seymour Duncan P-90 pickup in the bridge position, a mahogany body, a glued-in mahogany set neck and an ebony fingerboard with traditional block inlays. The shiny “Blues Power”-engraved plate below the bridge provides a nice contrast to the blackout body.
Lowden Wee Lowden Jazz

First introduced at NAMM 2019, the Wee Lowden Jazz model, or WL-35, is now available. The nylon string acoustic guitar has been designed to be comfortable for both classical and steel string players. Tonewood highlights on this model include an Alpine spruce top with Guatemalan rosewood back and sides.
Fender Meteora HH
The Meteora HH in Lake Placid BlueRemember Fender’s Meteora guitar from last year’s Parallel Universe line? Well, the brand’s now released a version with more punch and a more affordable price tag. The new Meteora HH features two Player Series alnico II humbuckers – with coil-splitting action – and will only set you back $999.99. This is a thousand dollars cheaper than last year’s.
PRS S2 Vela Semi-Hollow

This guitar has been introduced to PRS’ all-mahogany S2 line. In terms of electronics, this Vela features a PRS Starla humbucker at the bridge and a PRS-designed Type-D single-coil at the neck. Apart from a versatile tone offering, the guitar also comes in a wide array of finishes, ranging from a Frost Blue Metallic (seen here) to McCarty Tobacco Sunburst.
Fender Red Mahogany Top Telecaster

This is the second entrant to Fender’s premium Rarities Collection for the year. Like its sibling, the Red Mahogany Top Telecaster features high-end tonewoods – such as its beautifully figured mahogany top – and Custom Shop appointments. The latter includes a vintage-style 50s single-coil at the bridge matched to a Custom Shop ‘Twisted’ single-coil at the neck.
Cort KX508MS

The Cort KX508MS is the Korean brand’s first ever eight-string, multi-scale electric guitar. To match its extravagant nature, the axe features a striking a Mariana Blue Burst finish over a poplar burl top. In terms of tone, the Cort KX508MS has a Fishman Fluence Modern humbucker set designed specifically for an eight-string. These are said to feature the characteristics of both active and passive pups.
Shergold Provocateur

The Shergold Provocateur represents the brand’s first foray into single-cut designs. Built under the supervision of luthier Patrick James Eggle, the new model features a “truly vintage” 24.625-inch scale length and a variety of options. The latter includes a choice of two pickup configurations: a P-90 and a Pearly Gates, or two ‘59 humbuckers. You’ll also be able to choose between three understated but classy finishes.
Epiphone Lzzy Hale Explorer

Built for Halestorm’s frontwoman Lzzy Hale, this signature Explorer was built to match her fiery style. It has a mahogany body, an ebony fingerboard and a mahogany neck with a Custom C-profile designed to Hale’s specifications. It also has two Epiphone Alnico Classic Pro humbuckers voiced for vintage humbucking tones, but also possess a modern character thanks to their high output.
