Wayne’s World based on a sketch that first appeared on Saturday Night Live, was released in 1991. The movie follows heavy metal fanatics Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar, played by Myers and Carvey respectively, who run a public-access television show in Aurora, Illinois.
The movie was also notable for coining a number of popular phrases widely referenced within the rock music subculture, including “No Stairway, denied!” and “We’re not worthy!”
A sequel, Wayne’s World 2, was released in 1993 and featured guest appearances from Aerosmith. Tyler, Perry, guitarist Brad Whitford, bassist Tom Hamilton and drummer Joey Kramer also performed Dude (Looks Like A Lady) and Shut Up and Dance in the movie.
