Bob Weir joins forces with D’Angelico on a signature model
Back at NAMM 2019, D’Angelico showed off their latest Bob Weir signature model: the Deluxe Bob Weir Bedford. The guitar has now been officially released, becoming the first signature model to feature in the brand’s solid-body range and Weir’s second collaboration with D’Angelico, after the Deluxe Bob Weir SS.
Weir’s vision for a “bright and clear tonal powerhouse” has resulted in a unique HSH pickup configuration. It comprises a Lollar Blonde single-coil sandwiched between two Stacked Seymour Duncan P-90s. The pups are wired to a five-way pickup selector, master volume and tone controls as well as a blender pot that lets you dial in unselected pickups.
As for tonewoods, Weir’s Bedford model features a solid basswood body, a C-shaped, set-through maple/walnut neck as well as a 14-inch-radius pau ferro fingerboard. Additionally, the axe boasts a Wilkinson synchronised tremolo bridge, Grover locking tuners and a neat Matte Stone finish.
Watch out for Weir’s new D’Angelico axe on Dead & Company’s upcoming summer tour.
In the meantime, watch Weir introduce the Bedford below:
