David Bowie’s 1974 live album I’m Only Dancing (The Soul Tour 74) will be released on Record Store Day

The as-of-yet unissued David Bowie live album, I’m Only Dancing (The Soul Tour 74) will be released on the upcoming Record Store Day 2020 (18 April).
The LP Collects recordings from two concerts in between the release of Diamond Dogs and Young Americans – mostly from a 20 October 1974 concert at the Michigan Palace, Detroit on 20th October 1974, while the encores are taken from a show at the Municipal Auditorium, Nashville on 30 November 1974.
A statement about the release on Bowie’s website notes the important shift in Bowie’s performance style that came with these concerts: “The Soul Tour was a radical departure from the first part of the 1974 Diamond Dogs theatrical extravaganza. During a three week break in late 1974, the Diamond Dogs Tour’s elaborate six-ton Hunger City stage set was drastically stripped back, and the tour’s setlist overhauled to include as-yet-unreleased tracks from the Young Americans sessions at Sigma Sound in Philadelphia. The Soul Tour also featured a revamped band, augmented to include musicians and vocalists from those sessions, and rechristened The Mike Garson Band.”
It’s not the only Bowie release this RSD, as the ChangesNowBowie compilation will also see a reissue.
