Demo: Blackstar’s Sonnet, its most natural-sounding acoustic amp

NAMM 2020: Blackstar has introduced the Sonnet Series of acoustic guitar amplifiers, which the brand claims has “the most natural possible response”.
The Sonnet Series features two independent channels – for an instrument and a microphone – each with their own EQ and reverb level settings. Two additional inputs for MP3/Line in and Bluetooth playback mean that the Sonnet Series can handle up to four inputs simultaneously, perfect for practice and busking sessions.
Users can fine-tune their guitar’s higher frequencies with the High Pass Filter and Brilliance controls, while the ported cabinetry of the Sonnet Series helps to improve the low-end response. An additional Shape switch allows users to toggle between a flat EQ response and a mid-cut with a low and high-frequency boost.
Other features of the Sonnet Series include an integrated tilt-back stand for increased projection and an optional FS-17 two-way footswitch for channel and reverb muting. The amp can also be used to record thanks to its low-latency USB audio out and direct XLR output. Furthermore, using Blackstar’s SA-2 stand adaptor lets you attach the Sonnet Amplifier to a standard 35mm PA stand.
The Sonnet Series is available in 60- and 120-watt versions, and comes in either a black or cream covering with a matching grill and control panel.
