Epiphone brings back the Crestwood, Wilshire and Coronet guitars
The rumours were true: Epiphone has brought three historic solid-body guitar models back to life. Meet the 2020 Wilshire, Coronet and Crestwood Custom.

These guitars honour some of the brand’s earliest solid-body guitars, matching vintage style with modern playability. From updated pickups to a sized-down Kalamazoo headstock, here’s a look at these new Epiphones.
Epiphone Crestwood Custom 2020
Image: Epiphone via ReverbThe Crestwood Custom harks back to the original introduced back in 1959 and features a symmetrical double-cutaway mahogany body, a medium C profile mahogany neck and an Indian laurel fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets. Completing its retro look is a clear butterfly pickguard, oval fret inlays and a sized-down Kalamazoo headstock.
For electronics, the guitar also stays true to the original with a duo of Epiphone Pro Mini humbuckers that are routed to two sets of volume and tone controls. As for hardware, there’s a Tremotone vibrato tailpiece with an Indian laurel insert and a good ol’ fashioned Tune-O-Matic bridge.
The Crestwood Custom comes in two finishes, Polaris White and Polaris Cherry.
Epiphone Wilshire 2020
Image: Epiphone via ReverbThe Epiphone Wilshire is a no-nonsense rocker that dials back on some of the Crestwood Custom’s more complex hardware features while offering the same mahogany construction and 22-fret Indian laurel fingerboard.
The onboard pickups are a set of two Epiphone PRO P-90 Soapbars, which are routed to two sets of volume and tone controls and a three-way pickup selector. Meanwhile, the bridge and tailpiece are a Epiphone LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop bar, respectively.
The Wilshire is available in Cherry and Ebony finishes.
Epiphone Coronet 2020
Image: Epiphone via ReverbThe last of the three reissues is the Epiphone Coronet, a back-to-basics solidbody electric which has been played by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Marr and Del Shannon. The guitar distils the Wilshire’s electronics down to a single Epiphone PRO P-90 Dogear and two control knobs, for volume and tone.
There’s also an Epiphone Lightning Bar wraparound bridge and a white butterfly pickguard adorned with a foil “E” logo.
The Coronet comes in Cherry and Ebony finishes.
Pricing and availability
Retailers began listing the Epiphone Crestwood Custom, Wilshire and Coronet today (18 November) at $549, $449 and $399, respectively.
