Ernie Ball Music Man celebrates 20 years of John Pettruci’s signature model with new limited anniversary edition JP and Majesty guitars

Ernie Ball Music Man is celebrating 20 years of collaboration with Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci with two new limited-edition signature models. The 20th Anniversary JP and the 20th Anniversary Majesty are available now in either six- or seven-string versions.
20th Anniversary JP
The 20th Anniversary John Petrucci features a flamed maple top with a dramatic carve for the forearm, over a Honduran mahogany body. The flame is accentuated by a Honey Butter Burst finish.
The neck is bolt-on, with a grain-filled mahogany construction, a 24-fret ebony fretboard and gold-acrylic JP Shield inlays. Hardware is finished in black with gold accents.
In terms of electronics, there’s a DiMarzio Liquifire in the neck and a Crunch Lab in the bridge position, as well as a Piezo pickup in the actual bridge. Two outputs allow for a variety of coil-splitting stereo connectivity options. The guitar arrives with a laser-etched anniversary tremolo backplate, as well as an autographed certificate of authenticity.
Lists for $3,799 for the six-string version and $3,999 for the seven-string version.
20th Anniversary Majesty
The 20th Anniversary Majesty features a flamed maple shield seated in a Honey Butter Burst-finished Honduran mahogany body. The grain-filled through-neck is topped with an ebony fretboard and the same gold-acrylic JP Shield inlays.
Electronics consist of a DiMarzio Rainmaker in the neck and DiMarzio Dreamcatcher in the Bridge, as well as a bridge Piezo pickup. These are controlled by a custom Music Man active preamp, offering a push/push volume for a gain boost, and a push/push passive tone for custom two-pickup configurations.
The guitar also arrives with a laser-etched anniversary tremolo backplate, as well as an autographed certificate of authenticity.
Lists for $3,899 for the six-string version and $4,099 for the seven-string version
Adding to the 20th anniversary celebrations is a new mini-documentary, looking back over the development and evolution of Petrucci’s signature. The doc features interviews with Petrucci as well as Sterling Ball and members of the Ernie Ball Music Man Engineering and Product Development team who worked on the guitar. You can see it below.
