
Ernie Ball Music Man unveils five Ball Family Reserve guitar models for July
Ernie Ball Music Man has announced its Ball Family Reserve instruments for July, which include three electric guitar models: the Axis Super Sport Baritone, Albert Lee MM-90 and Silver Flake Sparkle Silhouette, as well as and two new bass guitars: the StingRay Special and StingRay 5 Special.
Axis Super Sport Baritone
Image: Ernie Ball Music ManThis baritone version of the Axis Super Sport features a basswood body, a roasted maple neck and an ebony fingerboard, completing a scale length of 27.5 inches. The guitar comes with a duo of custom-designed baritone humbuckers, which are controlled with a master volume and tone knob, as well as a five-way pickup selector. It also has Schaller locking tuners and an Ernie Ball string-thru bridge. The guitar comes in a Starry Night finish, and features a matching headstock as well.
Lists at $3,299. Limited to 60 pieces worldwide.
Albert Lee MM-90
Image: Ernie Ball Music ManA mahogany variation of the country legend’s signature electric guitar model, the Albert Lee MM-90 also gets its name from a trio of Ernie Ball Music Man designed MM-90 single-coil pickups. This guitar also has an Indian rosewood neck and fingerboard, and sports a backplate autographed by Lee himself. Its other notable appointments include Schaller locking tuners and a vintage vibrato bridge.

Silver Flake Sparkle Silhouette
Image: Ernie Ball Music ManThis Silhouette electric guitar features an eye-catching combination of a Silver Flake Sparkle finish with a mirror pickguard and silver pickup bobbin covers. It has a humbucker-rails-humbucker configuration with pickups from DiMarzio: a Super Distortion in the bridge, Chopper Blade in the middle and a Super II Distortion in the neck. Other notable appointments include a matching painted headstock and Schaller locking tuners.

StingRay Special

It comes in a Champagne Sparkle finish matched against all-gold hardware – right down to its pickup pole pieces. It comes equipped with a pair of neodymium humbuckers, which are controlled via a master volume, three-band active EQ knobs and a five-way pickup selector.
Lists at $2,799. Limited to 85 pieces worldwide.
StingRay 5 Special

It comes in a Sierra Burst finish and no pickguard especially to highlight the natural grain of its ash body. The neck, on the other hand, is of highly figured roasted maple and completes a scale length of 34-inches. This bass comes loaded with a single neodymium humbucker, which can be adjusted with a master volume knob, a three-band active EQ controls, and three-way blade pickup switch.
