Caparison Guitars announces the eight-string Apple Horn 8 for Mattias Eklundh
Caparison Guitars of Japan has unveiled the eight-string Caparison Apple Horn 8, its signature model designed for Freak Kitchen’s Mattias Eklundh. The instrument is an eight-string guitar and according to the company, represents “the pinnacle of extreme guitar design”.
The Apple Horn 8’s body combines a mahogany back with a walnut top. This is matched to a bolt-on five-piece neck of maple and walnut. Its headstock shape is the brand’s distinct Devil’s Tail design, and completes a scale length of 27-inches. Its ebony fretboard features 27 stainless steel, true temperament frets. This, when paired with the neck’s titanium support rods should contribute significantly to the guitar’s intonation stability.
As for pickups, the Apple Horn 8 features a duo of DiMarzio humbuckers: a DiMarzio PAF 8 in the neck and a DiMarzio D Activator 8 in the bridge. These are controlled by a single push-pull volume knob, which doubles as the guitar’s pickup selector. Other hardware appointments include an eight-string FU-Tone tremolo with Big Brass Block, FU-Tone locking nuts, and Gotoh tuners.

“Every time I pick up the Caparison Apple Horn 8 I am utterly floored and flabbergasted by its playability and enormously rich tone. It’s like a chamber orchestra in one instrument!” he said. “It will take me a few years to fully understand the nature and the astonishing wide spectrum of the Apple Horn 8. I am looking forward to the ride.”
