Fender releases Stratocaster-themed sunglasses for guitar’s 70th anniversary
Fender has released official Stratocaster sunglasses, and they’re sure to divide opinion.
Fender worked with the San Diego sunglasses company Knockaround to design the shades as part of the Strat’s 70th anniversary celebrations this year, but it might have been best for all involved if they’d have stayed in the brainstorming stage.

The glasses are designed on Knockaround’s Fort Knocks frame, and take influence from the sleek lines and curves of the Strat’s body. They come in Black and Surf Green – it’s admittedly a lovely green – but we’re not sure they work. The glasses look quite classy from the front, but the fretboard detailing on the arms is certainly… a choice, shall we say?
Knockaround says on its website, “Designed on our Fort Knocks frame, these sunglasses are just like the guitar that inspired them: a blend of classic style and forward-thinking design. With sleek lines and curves reminiscent of the Strat’s body, and colours that pop like a riff that fills the room, these shades aren’t just a nod to music—they’re a tribute to the creative soul.”
If you like these shades a bit more than we do, you can find them on Knockaround’s website. They’re available for £36 – or £151 if you want prescription lenses. If you really like the £36 sunglasses, or you’re torn between the two colours, they are buy one get one free today.
If you’re a Fender fan, but not so much of the sunglasses, you can get 20% off a range of Squier Affinity guitars on the company’s website today, to make your Prime Day even better. And, there’s a Strat or two in there as well…
