Fender’s Acoustasonic Stratocaster has arrived

NAMM 2020: Fender has debuted the American Acoustasonic Stratocaster, featuring a fully hollow construction for plenty of resonance, as well as innovative electronics for pumping out hum-free Strat-inspired acoustic and electric tones. The guitar was first shown at the ongoing NAMM 2020 show.
Update: (3 March 2020) The Acoustasonic Stratocaster is now on sale, starting at $1,999. Find out more at fender.com.
Fender’s patented Stringed Instrument Resonance System features in the American Acoustasonic Stratocaster, together with an Acoustasonic Noiseless pickup and a three-position selector switch that provides a trio of distinct voicings. The American Acoustasonic Stratocaster is powered by the Fender- and Fishman-designed Acoustic Engine, which unlocks new tonewood and body style emulation options. The Mod knob, so central to the Acoustasonic’s versatility, also appears in this Stratocaster version.
The Acoustasonic Stratocaster’s more traditional specs include: a mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard instead of the usual maple-rosewood combination, ergonomic body contours, and a comfortable and lightweight thinline body shape. It’s available in five finishes: 3-Color Sunburst, Dakota Red, Black, Natural and Transparent Sonic Blue.

Building on the runaway success of 2019’s Acoustasonic Telecaster, the American Acoustasonic Stratocaster also introduces all-new options, including a short-scale version and concert body with slotted headstock.
“We’ve removed all the obstacles associated with playing an acoustic guitar, giving players those same sounds with an electric neck and comfortable thinline acoustic body – all in a familiar Strat body shape,” Billy Martinez, VP Category Manager for Fender’s Acoustic Division, said in a statement. “At the same time, this guitar still gives you all the tonal options you would get in a dreadnought, concert or auditorium acoustic guitar.”
In our review of the Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster, we called the hybrid electric-acoustic guitar a “problem-solving, tonally versatile and inspiring songwriting companion”.
