Hammet purchased the guitar in 2014, and it’s since seen a lot of use on stage with Metallica – most often in Fade To Black.
Speculation about a replica was started when Mark Agnesi, Gibson’s director of Brand Experience, posted a guitar that looked incredibly similar to Greeny, with a couple of differences. What’s still not known is if a larger run of Greeny replicas will hit shelves any time soon.
The news follows the reveal of the first products of the Murphy Lab – a special division of the Gibson Custom Shop dedicated to accurate ageing of guitars.
