“He does not move me much”: David Crosby sparks controversy with tweets about Eddie Van Halen

David Crosby is facing backlash for a tweet he made over the weekend (11 October) in response to the death of Eddie Van Halen. The guitar icon died last week (6 October) from throat cancer.
Answering a fan question about what he thought of Van Halen’s music, Crosby tweeted a terse, “Meh…”

Meh …. https://t.co/rncBUS0tnw

The single-word response elicited a strong reaction from fans and artists, including musician Tracii Guns who took to Twitter to reply, “Wrong answer as fuck and rude as fuck!”
“There are better ways to say you don’t care for someone’s music. That was very disrespectful. And yes straight out fuck you and your smug answer,” Guns wrote.

Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider rode on Tracii Guns’ tweet to add: “Agreed. That said, I’ve always hated [David Crosby] AND his moustache.”

In response to the backlash, Crosby explained his thoughts in two follow-up tweets. “Sorry… Just meant he does not move me much,” he wrote in the first.
In the second, he replied to a Twitter follower who brought up Van Halen’s significant impact on guitar music. Crosby said, “Hendrix changed the world of guitar. Nobody else really.”
“Look I get it. Many of you loved Van Halen. And the one time I met he was nice. And he was talented,” Crosby continued. “‘Meh’ to me means I don’t care that much. And I don’t. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t good, he was, but not for me.”

As musicians continue to mourn Eddie Van Halen, it was revealed last week (8 October) that the late guitarist’s brand, EVH Gear, will be run by his son Wolfgang Van Halen and longtime guitar technician Matt Bruck.
