Hendrix, Clapton, and George Harrison guitarist cancels all 2025 tour dates due to ongoing “health issues”
Dave Mason – founder of the band Traffic and session musician for Eric Clapton, George Harrison, and Jimi Hendrix – has cancelled all of his scheduled tour dates this year due to health issues.
Mason had a stretch of shows in the US planned for the rest of the year, but is facing an ongoing health battle due to an infection he suffered in March.

Throughout his career, Mason has also worked with the likes of Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones. His band Traffic formed in 1967 and gained success for their debut album Mr. Fantasy and its self-titled follow up, which featured the hit Feelin’ Alright? He later left to pursue a solo career, releasing his first album, Alone Together, in 1970. Mason also co-founded RKS Guitars in 2004.
According to a press release (via Metro), Mason postponed a tour last year after a “serious heart condition” was discovered during a routine medical check-up in September. Though he had planned to go ahead with the rest of his shows this year, he contracted the “severe infection” in March and has been battling health issues as a result since.
In a social media post, he writes, “With deep regret, I must cancel all tour dates for 2025 due to ongoing health issues stemming from the infection I battled in March. I’m incredibly grateful to my team of doctors – this has been challenging territory, to say the least.
“A heartfelt thank you to all the fans, and to my family, band, agents, and the venues who’ve waited patiently and supported me throughout this journey. Your kind messages have lifted my spirits more than words can express. Recovery is a long road. My love for you all runs deep. God bless, Dave,” he states.
