“I’d love to play them one last time”: Bill Ward shares hopes for a Black Sabbath reunion show
Bill Ward wants to play one final show with Black Sabbath.
Over the last few weeks, the other three in Black Sabbath’s original lineup – Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler – have all discussed a performance with all four, and Ward has confirmed that he’d be up for it too.

Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Ward says, “Bill Ward checking in regarding all the updates on a possible Sabbath show in England. I’m in for playing some of everyone’s old favourites. Loved playing them then, I’d love to play them one last time.”
He continues, “I’m not going to talk about my health publicly except to say, every day I’m pretty good for 76 years old, I’m active musically every day, and I have a very busy and gratifying life. Love you all, all the fucking time.”

It’s been almost two decades since the foursome played their final full-length show, at an Ozzfest date in Florida in September 2005. Their final live appearance on stage was at the UK Music Hall Of Fame ceremony at London’s Alexandra Palace later that year, where they only played Paranoid.
For Sabbath’s 81-date The End Tour in 2017, Tommy Clufetos filled in for Ward after he fell out with Osbourne.
While all of the classic band members have expressed hope for a reunion, bassist Butler told BraveWords in June that he couldn’t imagine it happening. “Ozzy has been texting me about doing one final show with Bill … but it’s just not going to happen,” he said. “I always said that the original Black Sabbath would never get back together. You say these things hoping if a miracle happens, that it would be great to do it.”
For Osbourne’s part, his wife and manager Sharon said at the start of the year that he’d like to do two final shows in the band’s native Birmingham to “say goodbye properly” after quitting touring last year for health reasons.
In May, Butler said that he and Osbourne had been discussing the possibility of a reunion too. So, while nothing is set in stone yet, watch this space…
