Iron Maiden and Foo Fighters make the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s 2021 Fan Ballot

Rock and metal bands Foo Fighters and Iron Maiden have placed amongst the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s 2021 fan vote ballot, earning an extra vote towards their induction.
Fans could cast their vote towards each of the 16 nominees (Tina Turner, Jay-Z, LL Cool J, Rage Against the Machine, Iron Maiden, Kate Bush, The Go-Go’s, Mary J. Blige, New York Dolls, Fela Kuti, Chaka Khan, Todd Rundgren, Carole King, Devo, Dionne Warwick and Foo Fighters). Once the vote was closed, the top five artists by number of votes were then added to the fan ballot. Despite the ranked order displayed on the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s website (see below), the ballot is of equal value to all artists present on it.
Each artist that makes the ballot earns one extra vote. However, as Variety reports, it’s perhaps easy to overstate the importance of making the fan ballot: this one vote will be counted amongst “hundreds” of other votes from the Hall Of Fame’s voting body, comprised of artists, historians, and music industry members.
Joining Iron Maiden and Foo Fighters on the ballot are Tina Turner, Fela Kuti and The Go-Go’s.

Earlier this year, ex-Iron Maiden guitarist Dennis Stratton expressed his surprise at being nominated alongside the band. Stratton played guitar with Iron Maiden for less than one year. “The first reaction, I’ve gotta be honest with you, is that I thought, ‘It’s not going to include me’,” he said. “Funny enough, I got a message on the Lionheart group message from [the person] who does all our graphics, the artwork, and he said to me, ‘Have you looked online? You’ve been nominated with the band.’”
