Johnny Marr is working on his fourth solo album

Johnny Marr has revealed that he’s working on a new solo album.
Details on the album are sparse, with Marr revealing its existence in a brief Instagram post. Accompanying a photo, Marr simply wrote: “Hope all’s alright. Album 4 is happening. X” Take a look at the post below.

This new album will be his fourth under Marr’s own name – if you don’t include Boomslang, Marr’s 2003 record released with backing band The Healers. Marr played guitar in The Smiths for their entire existence, and has been regularly releasing solo albums since the 2010s.

This year, Marr was honoured by Boss with a lifetime achievement award as part of the (virtual) winter NAMM show. Marr, aside from his use of Fender offsets and amplifiers, is a long-time user of Boss effects units.
Jamie Franklin, head of artist relations for Roland Europe, congratulated Johnny Marr on the achievement, outlining the reasoning for his award: “Going back to the Boss Flanger, DD-3 and up to the JC120, in terms of inspiring a generation to pick up a guitar and think differently in terms of tone, melody and writing life-changing music, no one comes to mind more than Johnny Marr in my opinion.”
