Latin Percussion Announce New Tony Succar Series of Stave Shell Congas & Bongos
Latin Percussion (LP®) launches the Tony Succar series, featuring congas, bongos, timbales, timbalitos, snare drums, and a cajón. The range delivers bright, punchy tones from premium materials, pairing a striking rainbow finish with bold black accents.
As a three-time Latin Grammy winner, an in-demand producer, and a powerful timbalero, Tony Succar is absolutely ‘en fuego‘. The Peruvian-American multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer was the youngest recipient of the Latin Grammy for Best Salsa Album in 2019 when he was also awarded Producer of the Year. In 2025, he won the Grammy for Best Tropical Latin Album for Mimy & Tony.
Available in the classic Quinto, Conga, and Tumba sizes the Tony Succar Congas and Bongos have stave shells constructed from New Zealand Pine for a bright, open, and punchy tone that adds a modern aesthetic to any setup or session. The eye-catching rainbow finish is complemented with striking Black Nickel hardware and fitted with natural rawhide heads, Comfort Curve II rims, and 5/16” diameter tuning rods.
The series also includes Tony Succar Thunder Timbale and Tony Succar Timbalitos, based on the ever-popular Tito Puente series. Constructed from rainbow chrome-plated steel, the amazing subtle color variations ensure every set is truly one-of-a-kind. Fitted with striking Black Nickel hardware, the Thunder drums are 10” deep and fitted with 15” and 16” heads that produce a classic bright booming tone. The Timbalitos are 6-½” deep, fitted with 9-¼” and 10-¼” heads, which produce a bright cutting tone. Both include a heavy-duty stand with cowbell mount, timbales sticks, and tuning wrench.
The 4-½” deep Tony Succar Snares come in three sizes: The 10” Salsa snare and the 8” and 6” Micro snares. They generate crispy, bright accents with a vibrant contemporary aesthetic. All are equipped with Black Nickel hardware, are drum key tunable and on the micro snares they include a mount that fits 3/8” rods.
Completing the series is the Tony Succar Cajon built with a New Zealand Pine body and a gloss black Birch soundboard for punchy bass tones and crispy slaps. Measuring 19” high, 12” wide and 12” deep, it is fitted with patented multi-adjusting snare wires and large rubber feet for stability.
