Listen: AC/DC share Realize, the second single from PWR/UP

AC/DC have shared a raucous new single from their upcoming album PWR/UP. Listen to Realize above.
PWR/UP, which drops tomorrow (13 November), is set to be the Australian rock outfit’s 17th studio album and the follow-up to 2014’s Rock Or Bust. Realize follows last month’s release of Shot In The Dark, the record’s lead single.
Although the album won’t feature recorded takes from rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, who died in 2017, it will include musical ideas and riffage from the late musician.
Speaking to Spanish radio station RockFM, lead guitarist Angus Young explained how a conscious decision was made to exclude his brother’s guitar playing from the record’s final cut.
“I know a lot of people have been saying, did Malcolm actually play, is it his instrument on the new album?” Angus said. “I chose not to do that because I felt Malcolm himself wouldn’t like me trying to splice his guitar work.”
He added: “Malcolm and myself, a lot of what we had done through the years, we’d make notes with the tracks. Some might be a little bit rough here and there, and I polished them up. In other cases, Malcolm might have done just a small bit and then I would do the next verse. The bulk of the contribution of Mal [on PWR/UP] is mainly musical.”
Meanwhile, singer Brian Johnson is hopeful that the album will inspire a new generation of rockers to take up the guitar and start a band. On that front, the band might have already made headway; Aussie punk rascals The Chats recently dropped a new single saluting the iconic rock group, entitled ACϟDC CD – watch the hilarious video here.
