Mumford & Sons team up with Deering for the GOTR Goodtime Banjo

Mumford & Sons have teamed up with American Banjo manufacturer Deering to release the GOTR (Gentleman on the Road) Goodtime Banjo.
The banjo itself features 22 frets, shield-shaped fret markers and a satin-finished maple neck. The body features Deering’s own patented tailpiece, and open back, a steel tension hoop and a three-ply maple rim. It’s also emblazoned with Mumford & Sons’ wings logo, while the 21st fret is engraved with the band’s name.
In total the banjo weighs in at only 1.8Kg (4lbs), making it ideal for being taken on the road – hence the Gentleman on the Road moniker.
Deering says of the banjo, “while bringing banjo and Mumford & Sons fans the Charity Banjo Campaign, we have received countless requests for a Mumford & Sons banjo that is affordable and inspiring to both learn on and travel the road with. Through much collaboration on what this banjo should be and what band art should grace its neck and skin, it is our great pleasure to present to you the Gentlemen of The Road Goodtime Banjo!”
If committing to a Banjo is too much of a change from a six-string but you still want that folky twang, check out our DIY guide on creating a banjo-guitar hybrid.
