NAMM 2020: Ibanez brings back the Echo Shifter
Ibanez is accompanying its slew of NAMM 2020 guitar releases with a trio of pedal announcements, starting with the return of the Echo Shifter and two new mini Tremolo and Flanger pedals.
The ES3 (pictured above) is the latest incarnation of the Echo Shifter and an upgrade over its 2013 predecessor. The new Echo Shifter features the same control setup of mix, depth, feedback and speed controls, but boasts both analogue and digital delays ranging from 40ms to 600ms (analogue) and 1,500ms (digital).
Another upgrade to the Echo Shifter includes the ability to induce self-oscillation via the tap tempo footswitch. Depressing the footswitch will trigger the modulation while the delay time slider can be used to control the pitch of the effect.
Image: IbanezThe other additions to Ibanez’s pedal offerings are the mini Flanger and Tremolo. Housed in downsized pedal enclosures, these two mini pedals offer a bare-bones layout of one main control accompanied by two mini-controls.
Image: IbanezIn the case of the Flanger, the main pot controls the speed of the modulation while the mini pots handle the depth and regeneration. The Tremolo offers up the depth of the effect as the main control, with the wave shape and speed taking secondary positions. An internal level trimpot allows the user to minimise volume loss when the mini Tremolo is engaged, especially at higher depth settings.
