Origin Effects New Product Release BASSRIG Fifteen
Origin Effects have released the BASSRIG Fifteen, a new bass preamp and DI pedal that pays tribute to the Ampeg B-15 Portaflex amp. This new addition to the BASSRIG range of “Amp Recreations” sets out to give bassists the full experience of playing through the world’s favourite studio bass amp, known for its distinctive punchy tones and favoured by a who’s-who of pro bassists from the ‘60s to the present day.
The BASSRIG Fifteen’s analogue design captures the warmth, compression and drive of the B-15 by simulating the entire circuit – preamp, phase inverter, power amp and reactive load. All coming together to deliver not just the sound but also the playing feel of this classic amp.
“We’ve wanted to make a B-15 Amp Recreation for ages because it’s just such a cool sound, but it’s taken us a long time to get it right” says Origin Effects Product manager, John Dines. “We updated the way we approach the main circuitry, worked hard on the voicing of the cab sim, and improved the Amp Out EQ. In fact, we learnt so much while making the BASSRIG Fifteen that future Amp Recreations will be much better because of it.”
Also included is an analogue cabinet simulator driving the DI output, made using accurate measurements of a mic’d up B-15 cabinet. For players using real amps, Origin’s Amp Out EQ promises to lend some B-15 vintage character to even the most modern bass amps. With premium quality components and a brushed stainless-steel enclosure, the BASSRIG Fifteen is built to Origin Effects’ uncompromising standards.
To coincide with the release of the BASSRIG Fifteen, Origin Effects are now offering their Cali76 Bass Compressor in a matching ‘Fifteen Blue’ finish. Both pedals are now available from Origin Effects dealers worldwide or direct from Origin Effects. Find more information at origin effects.com.
