Puzzle Effects unveils a new solution to pedalboard tetris
Any pedal fan knows that arranging effects on a ‘board can be a nightmare – reconfiguring power cables and signal cables can get fiddly, not to mention expensive if you’re chaining together a lot of effects.
That’s why Puzzle Effects’ prototype models are so intriguing. Designed by French pedal builder Florian Leca, the units have jigsaw-style connectors that slot perfectly together, alongside a set of contacts to transmit power and audio between the units.

Here they are : the Silly Fuzz and the Gold Digger plugged together! As you can see, you can choose which one to power, and they’ll both work anyway. #prototyping #fuzzface #fuzzpedal #acapulcogold #distortionpedal #distortion #fuzz #prototype #effectpedals #diypedals #pedalboard #guitarpedals #stompbox #guitareffects #guitarfx #puzzle #guitar

As of yet, Leca has 3D-printed the enclosures and filled them with standard analogue effects such as overdrive, fuzz and tremolo as a proof of concept.
As the pedals share power and pass on audio when connected, they could save a sizable amount of ‘board real-estate and could come in handy if you want to free up some power supply slots.
