Red Witch summons the Seraphina, a four-diode octave fuzz
Red Witch pedals, in partnership with Reverb.com, has unveiled a new octave-fuzz pedal, the Seraphina.
The unit is centred around four germanium diodes, and is hand-assembled (“built the old way”) in New Zealand. The construction of the unit puts a modern spin on an old form-factor, with top mounted controls lending the whole face of the pedal (aside from the footswitches) to its minimal, art nouveau design. The secondary footswitch is for independently engaging the octave-up sound.
The controls themselves let you tune the fuzz, tone and volume. Two internal trim pots let you get a bit more detailed. The first lets you fine-tune the octave-up, going from spattery glitch-esque sounds to more overtone-derived fuzz sounds. The second increases the weight of the fuzz sound itself. Aside from this octave-up, Red Witch describes the fuzz’s output as versatile, saying it can manage wall-of-sound doom, vintage bite and anything in between.
