Slipknot win Best Band In The World at NME Awards 2020

Slipknot bagged the Best Band In The World award at the recent NME Awards 2020 last night (February 12).
The eight-member metal outfit from Iowa, Des Moines beat out fellow nominees Bring Me The Horizon, Tame Impala, HAIM and The 1975 to bring home the coveted award.
During their acceptance speech, frontman Corey Taylor, expressed gratitude for the award on the band’s behalf. He and credited the win to the undying support from their loyal fans over the years.
“We appreciate it, Best Band In The World. Way to catch up, we knew that 20 years ago! Thank you for finally recognising it: this is everything that you ever wanted. So really this is more for you than anything else. Thanks to our fans for always sticking by us”, Taylor said during the acceptance speech.
The NME Awards 2020 returned last night to the O2 Academy Brixton, hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan and British radio presenter Julie Adenuga. It honoured the best in music in the past year. Check out the full list of winners here.
Slipknot recently unveiled the Knotfest Roadshow, a 17-date tour across North America in support of their latest album, We Are Not Your Kind. The band will be joined by Underoath, A Day To Remember and Code Orange. The tour starts at Syracuse, New York on 30 May, and ends at The Woodlands, Texas on 25 June. On top of that, Slipknot have also announced that they’re bringing Knotfest to the UK for the first time, happening on 22 August at The National Bowl, Milton Keynes. This is in addition to the pre-existing Knotfest dates: Knotfest at Sea from 10-14 August in Barcelona, Spain and Knotfest Japan on 20 and 21 March in Chiba, Japan.
