Stone Deaf unveils the limited-edition PDF-1X

Stone Deaf has released the PDF-1X, an updated distortion pedal that combines the features of its PDF-1 and PDF-2 stompers.
The effect now includes a volume control, allowing the pedal to push an amplifier or other effects even further. The new volume knob takes the place of the gain knob, which is now located inside the pedal. It’s a “set-and-forget” trim pot that will take the pedal from a clear overdrive to a meaty fuzz and everything in between.
The secondary footswitch chooses between the pedal running as a clean boost, or having the gain in play.
The rest of the controls operate the parametric EQ aspect of the pedal. Height controls the amount of boost or cut that will apply to the frequency chosen by the Freq knob. The amount of boost or cut on your chosen band can reach 20dB, and the frequency affected ranges from 35Hz to 6kHz.
The central chicken-head knob is a five-position selector switch that affects the width of the effect’s Q. Together, this full-featured EQ allows you to pinpoint and cut problematic frequencies, or boost ones that make your rig sing.
The I/O of the pedal includes a proprietary expression input. Combining this pedal with Stonedeaf’s EP-1 allows you to achieve phaser or wah tones with a narrow bandwidth setting, or use the pedal as an on-the-fly tone control with a broader setting.
The first 200 units are signed by illustrator and long-time collaborator with Stone Deaf, McBess.
The PDF-1X lists for £166.66. More information at stonedeaffx.com.
