The latest episode of Metallica’s weekly Metallica Mondays archival concert series puts the spotlight on the band’s 2014 By Request tour – sharing footage shot at their show in Lima, Peru in full. Take a look above.
The By Request tour was carried out in support of Metallica’s Lords Of Summer single.The tour allowed fans of each city to help curate each show’s setlist by way of an internet voting platform, as well as an SMS voting system during the show to decide the encore.
Metallica Mondays was devised as a means for the band to stay connected with fans while in lockdown due to COVID-19. The series puts out a complete live show every Monday, with episodes spanning Metallica’s decades-long career, from the band’s 1991 show in Muskegon, Michigan on the Black Album Tour to their 2019 performance at Slane Castle, Meath, Ireland.
Last month, the band’s charitable All Within My Hands foundation made a $350,000 contribution towards COVID-19 relief, supporting organisations such as Feeding America, Crew Nation, Direct Relief and the United States Bartenders Guild Foundation.
This was followed up with the announcement of the Month Of Giving – a way of putting the spotlight on campaigns that the band supported.
