Watch: Bob Weir covers Bob Dylan at the NPR Tiny Desk

Bob Weir and Wolf Bros appeared at the NPR Tiny Desk, covering Bob Dylan’s When I Paint My Masterpiece, as well as taking on a few Grateful Dead tunes. Take a look above.
The performance’s first track was Only a River, a track from Weir’s 2016’s solo record Blue Mountain. This was followed by Bob Dylan’s When I Paint My Masterpiece, and two Grateful dead songs: Bird Song and Ripple. Both of these were written by Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter. Weir and Wold Bros were joined by harpist Mikaela Davis for these last two Grateful Dead tunes.
In Wolf Bros., Weir is backed by drummer Jay Lane and bassist Don Was. Don Was co-founded 80s funk-rock band Was (Not Was), best known for their songs Walk The Dinosaur and Spy in the House of Love. Jay Lane played alongside Weir in RatDog for over 16 years, and has drummed for many other projects, including Primus.
The tour began on 28 February in Miami, and will end with two shows in a row at Portland, Maine’s State Theater on 27 and 28 March. After this, Weir, along with Dead & Company, will embark on a summer tour across July and August.
Wier, who co-founded the Grateful Dead in 1965, has played in many projects since the group’s disbandment in 1995. Bob Weir and Wolf Bros is the latest of these, with others including RatDog, Furthur, Bobby & the Midnites, Dead & Company and Kingfish.
