Watch Raphael Saadiq break down the guitar and bass of Something Keeps Calling for Fender Tracks

Fender has released a new episode of its Tracks series, featuring a breakdown of the inspiration and music behind the guitar and bass found on Raphael Saadiq’s song Something Keeps Calling.
In the episode, Saadiq explains how he was going for an Isley Brothers-inspired feel to the bass parts, as he’s “all about basses bouncing. He breaks down the bassline on the recently-launched American Professional II Jazz Bass, as well as the flanger- and delay-soaked guitar solo that closes the track on his own Telecaster.

Alongside his own music, he’s a prolific producer and has composed for a number of TV shows, including Lovecraft Country, Insecure and The Red Line.
