The 29-year-old bassist took to Twitter yesterday (26 October) to dispel claims from a private Wolfgang Van Halen Facebook fan page – which were shared publicly on Twitter – that a new Van Halen lineup was a “strong possibility”.
That lineup, according to those claims, would feature Wolfgang on guitar, Sammy Hagar on vocals, Michael Anthony on bass and Alex Van Halen on drums.
The post further alleged that, before he passed, Eddie Van Halen gave his sons, Wolfgang and Alex, his “blessing” to go through with the project.
The claims were slammed by Wolfgang in a tweet, urging fans of the band not to entertain the notion.
“This is just a shitty lie attempting to capitalise on these awful times. Please stop with this,” Wolfgang wrote in his response to @MetalSludge, the Twitter user who shared the fan page’s posts. “Anyone peddling this shit is not only hurting the fans, but hurting me and my family.”
