You can hear Eddie Van Halen’s final musical composition with his brother Alex in his new audiobook, Brothers

The last piece of music ever recorded by Alex and Eddie Van Halen will be available to hear for the first time in the audiobook version of Alex’s upcoming book, Brothers.
The book, which is set to arrive October 22, is described as an “intimate and open account – nothing like any rock and roll memoir you’ve ever read” – into the story of family, friendship, music and brotherly love between him and his late brother and bandmate Eddie.

“Told with acclaimed New Yorker writer Ariel Levy, Brothers is 70-year old drummer Alex Van Halen’s love letter to his younger brother Edward, (Maybe “Ed,” but never “Eddie”), written while still mourning his untimely death,” reads a statement on the Van Halen website.
The 240-page book will be available in three formats: Standard Hardcover, Deluxe Autographed Hardcover and an audiobook narrated by Alex Van Halen himself. The latter featured an unreleased song composed by both Eddie and Alex titled Unfinished, the last piece of music the pair wrote together.
“This is my tribute to my brother; my way of saying goodbye,” says Alex Van Halen. “Ed, I love you and miss you. When I see you again, I’m gonna kick your ass!”
Recently, former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar has spoken on how he tried to recruit Alex Van Halen for his ongoing Best Of All Worlds Tour, which sees him play Van Halen classics with bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani, keyboardist Ray Thistlethwayte and drummer Jason Bonham.
He says, however, that Alex hasn’t returned his calls, and suggests it could be because of his book deal for Brothers.
“I reached out to Alex a dozen times before this tour was announced, and got no response,” Hagar said. “I mean, I’ve asked him to meet me under any conditions, any circumstances, anytime, anyplace, anywhere. It’s not like, ‘Well, let me think about it.’ It’s like, no answer. Zero.”
He went on: “I’m sure when he made his book deal, they said, ‘You cannot talk to Dave, and you cannot talk to Hagar. I guarantee you, that that was part of the deal.”
Brothers arrives October 22 via Harper Collins.
