Advice for setup on a new Axis

So i just got another brand new Axis because i love the body, the pickups, the neck….but the one downside is it seems difficult to get the action completely straight. My other Axis (mid 90’s i bought used 20 years ago), i took in to try to fix a year or so ago and they had to add a shim but i think it was too much and their way to “fix” that was to angle the bridge backwards. I dont want to go down the same path with this one. It’s great up until the 12th fret and then the action starts…
