Dustin Kensrue's Stingray Switching

OK, can anyone explain the switching on Dustin Kensrue’s Stingray to me?
What is that little lump on the top corner of the pickguard – lower bout?

I think the guitar looks ace – any chance this pickup configuration might become on option on the Stingray in the future BP?
