Help with Cutless thin harsh sound suddenly

Help, suddenly I have a very thin sounding noise coming out of my pickups. So if I back off the treble 50% it sort of darkens the tone Changed battery of course..can the silent circuit board go bad? I checked all wiring nothing loose I could find. I have had the guitar for 7 months this noise is new. Thoughts? Thanks in advance Jeff
