Ideal setup?
Hi!
For years I’ve been running my whole system on early 2011 MacBook Pro, 2.2GHz with 8GB RAM and proper SSD. The system has worked flawlessly. Don’t know why but past couple of months it happens so that when I use Powercore Firewire plugins, then the whole sound gets glitchy and nothing really helps. It used to run smoothly but now doesn’t. Anything in the setup hasn’t changed except monitor speakers, but that’s not the cause of the problems. So I’ve been thinking that I need to change my DAW computer. I use Logic Pro X. Other hardware besides Poco are: Motu 828 mk2 firewire + 8ch over ADAT, Virus TI Snow running audio over USB (this wasn’t even connected when problems arised, 6ch of audio), Elektron Analog Rytm (which I wish I could run over USB too – 8ch of audio).
I have couple of machines in mind: mac pro 5.1, mac pro 6.1 (using with tb-fw adapters) or perhaps new quad core 13″ macbook pro. Any idea which system could work fine?
+ I have thunderbolt display, which has firewire ports and extra thunderbolt port, so any machine really suits. It’s just that it must handle all the bandwith.
