maple neck changed colour

I got a MM Sting ray bass guitar with unfinished maple neck. After cleaning it, I applayed gun oil a little coloured. the neck became darker and a little more darker on the top .

Can you suggest me how to get it more brighter? Do i need to clean it again wit oil soap? I don’t like it now. It looks like older now.
Please help.
