Music Man Cutlass PUs sound very mid-focused

Hey there. I own two cutlass’ and one of them (HSS with roasted neck) has a much more compressed mid-focussed sound like I roll down the tone-pot a little. Does anyone have such experience that the 2nd generation (with the roasted necks) sound totally different to the first gen. (2017/2018)? Or has anyone ideas for finding the problem?
