NGD: JP15 BFR Blueberry Burst
First, the bad news (there is some unfortunately, but not deal-breaking for sure):
1. The guitar did NOT come with the case – which means:
No protection for it other than packing (which the GC guys did a fantastic job with as it arrived here in IL just fine) for its trip from SF all the way to me.
No certificate of authenticity. I checked with CS and they don’t keep copies of these. So I’m out of luck there.
No signed back plate. The original owner obviously changed it out. Oh well.
No trem bar. I’ve ordered one from CS. No divebombs until next weekend :(.
The Piezo volume knob was REALLY loose. Popped off the rubber grommet, removed the knob and tightened the nut. Piece of cake. Solid and good as new.
The previous owner had some weird strap locks still attached to the guitar. The holes look to be the same diameter as they were originally. EBMM strap locks to be delivered today :).
I’ll have to buy a case for it. CS checked and nothing out there to be had from any GC location. I’m told by CS that it uses the standard JP6 case. If anyone has one laying around PLEASE let me know.
2. It has a few warts from use. Nothing which is noticeable unless you’re looking for it or catch it at the right light angle. Other than my OCD not a big deal really. They aren’t meant to be museum pieces :).
Now, on to the good news. IMHO this (a BFR) is THE top of the mountain as far as EBMM guitars are concerned. This is my first opportunity to even PLAY a BFR let alone own one. It is, without a doubt, the finest guitar one could imagine. Specific to this particular guitar – the radius, neck carve, frets, etc. are just unreal (YMMV depending on what you like obviously). The Illuminator pickups are really nice. The piezo is amazing. My first experience with it and it adds another dimension. What fun. The body is really comfortable to play with the arm contour and the weight. Well-balanced. I’m really fortunate to have found this guitar for sure. I don’t see myself letting this one go. As there were only 300 made this is a pretty rare instrument. Pics? Pics? You want pics you say??? Here you go!
