NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Days! NYNGD #2020-8

.
Welcome to Day 8 of my annual New Year’s New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!

Thanks for the kind words and comments on yesterday’s NYNGD #2020-7!

Let me start off by wishing you all a very Merry Christmas. I hope you and yours are safe and healthy and wish you Godspeed to power through to the end of this pandemic and hopefully come out the other side unscathed.

So here we go into the second half of this year’s NYNGD and we’re on track for the grand finale to hit on New Year’s Eve.

Today’s NYNGD is another sweet Majesty — this time it’s a Majesty Monarchy in Royal Red. It always strikes me how these guitars are such high quality and have such consistent feel, yet still retain the originality of the particular pieces of wood used to make the guitar. This one is a little warmer and “spongier” than other Majesties — it breathes a little more and has a little less bite. This is one that I would love to experiment and throw some lower output pickups in, but I never have the balls to do it. Modding Majesties somehow seems a little more verboten than other guitars. I guess it’s the tech inside. Having said that, it may actually be easier because I think you just disconnect a connector on the back of the pickup. Has anybody here swapped a Majesty yet?

Finish-wise, the Royal Red is top notch, and I love how the top and sides are glossy and the back is satin finish. Really cool detail.

This Majesty spends most of his time in my office and I can be seen playing it (secretly and sometimes not so secretly) on work video conferences (usually held below the camera’s eye and played while the mic is muted — except when I mess up).

I’ll be back soon with another NYNGD: New Year’s New Guitar Day! Thanks for looking everyone!

(The back story in case you’re new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I’ve done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date… So, as a fun holiday thing, let’s launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I’ve received PM’s about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. 🙂 The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)

(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas — these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house…)
