Polytune 3 – BonaFide Buffer Circuit Position
I am trying to understand the Polytune 3 BonaFide Buffer arrangement.
User manual documentation only states how to set the PT3 in an “Always On, w/ Buffer” mode, via the DIP switches.
I have discovered when the PT3 in an “Always On, w/ Buffer” mode:
1. When +9VDC is removed from the PT3, it will enter into By-Pass mode.
This behavior appears to be the BonaFide Buffer feature.
2. When PT3 is powered on and the Footswitch is pressed, the output is muted.
I do not see value in this feature. It can confuse one when thinking the pedal is always on, one would deem signal is always passing through the PT3 as with the BonaFide Buffer. Especially when one does not know the PT3 is muted and the tuner is displaying guitar signal being present. Hey, where did my signal go? The PT3 does power up unmuted.
My question, PT3 in an “Always On, w/ Buffer” mode.
Where does the BonaFide Buffer sit, as compared to the PT3 tuner circuit?
Is the BonaFide Buffer parallel or in series to the PT3 tuner circuit?
My Thoughts between Series and Parallel
Series
GTR > BonaFide Buffer > PT3 tuner > AMP
Parallel
PT3 tuner
^
GTR > BonaFide Buffer > AMP
Can rely on the same BonaFide Buffer specs when integrated into the PT3?
